Mock EXPERIMENT
Topic: Medical treatement with leeches
Question: The use of leeches daily activites for healing purposes
Abstract idea: Leeches are used in modern medicine because they work. They're an extremely
effective artificial vein in certain situations where a body part such as a finger has been replanted after an amputation, but only a part of a side is working. The, the leech then serves as an artificial vein by drawing off the
excess blood or the congested blood, until the person can actually grow back small, venous capillaries. What would be very useful instead of disposing of these leeches after aiding in the healing process of a amputed limb or skin part, would be having a whole new sort of species that would develop in just the aid of helping for medicinal purposes and become sort of tamed. This is a very long shot but this as well is a very abstract and broad idea that could also work but would take a long idea. This abstract idea would benefit for medicinal purposes definetly and make life easier for people using these leeches for these medical purposes.
Hypothesis: If the Hirudo medicinalis (medical leech) mated and only adapted their medical sense, they would seperate and become new artificial species that develop and aid in the process of microsurgery.
Materials:
1. 2 lab set up to meet the needs of the medical leeches.
2. Food supply for leeches
3. Any animal leech could feed off of.
4. Test patient
5. 20 leeches
Procedure:
1. For the first lab set up to the leeches environmental necesity.
2. Have these leeches feed and aid in the microsurgery of the patients
3. Make sure the 20 leeches are each divided into each lab equally as well
4. The 10 leeches will be used over time with microsurgery for over a month and will mate with each other.
5. Those new leeches while growing into adult hood will provide the same functions.
6. Take note on the offspring behavior and see if they have improved in medical purposes.
7. Repeat steps 1-5 but instead of a test patient, use a live animal for the other lab
8. After the leeches mate from this test group pair them with a test patient.
9.Record the results
During experiment: While the experiment is taking place make sure to keep an eye on the effects of microsurgery and the amount of time it takes on the leech on exposed to medical purposes for humans and the leech only exposed to feeding off animals then aiding humans.
